What does a project manager do?
A project manager can lead you by the hand and organize the entire project from start to finish.
Or the owners can also do portions of the project if they wish to be somewhat involved.
Project managers guide the owners toward the 
successful project completion.
One of the main reasons that a project manager is a valuable asset is that he or she is aware of the terminology used by contractors and are already familiar with the entire process from start to finish, even before it gets off the ground. They also have many contacts within the construction field and often work with builders who have a proven track record.
When you have made the decision to build a house or cottage you will need to decide on what the process will be from start to finish.
- do you wish to build the house yourselves
- do you wish to have the house built for you by a project manager
- do you need to hire a contractor or various contractors
- do you want a turn key operation ( no hassles – have it built and move in)
Whatever your final choice - it is time to start planning
Building yourself (you must ask yourself these questions)
- do you have any idea what you are doing
- do you have some experience
- do you have lots of experience
- do you have the time
- is the time of year an issue depending on weather and seasons
- do you have an accurate set of plans to follow
