saw splitter

The splitter

table saw splitter guardWhat is the big deal with a splitter?

The splitter is an extremely important safety device.

There are times when the splitter is not used but they are typically special situations.

  Common sense should prevail.

The main purpose of the splitter is

it does not allow the material being cut the move away from the rip fence and travel across the path of the moving blade.

If the splitter is not in place and the material does ride over the blade then a kickback is quite likely to be the result.

 What is a kickback?

A kickback is when the material being cut is thrown back towards the operator and can therefore cause an injury.

The splitter also keeps the material spread apart after it has passed the blade and keeps each piece separated in case it tries to close the kerf that is produced by the saw blade.

I have witnessed this scenario, no splitter, wrong method of cutting, and it hurts the chicklets. Who needs a trip to the dentist?

  3. I thought it was going to be some boring old post, but it really compensated for my time. I will post a link to this page on my blog. I am sure my visitors will find that very useful.

  4. What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
